Calli e canali

In Venice one of the names for streets is calle (calli plural) and the canals, canale  (canali plural, much easier).  It is almost impossible to find a canal which isn't beautiful or interesting in some way and the streets are equally interesting. I'll post more  as I go through the 1000s of photos that we have taken.

Just wandering around

From the Ponte delle Guglie across the Cannaregio Canal
We seem to photograph this fig tree every time we come -it always looks a bit different.
These old guys on the Grand Canal were pretty quick and were manoeuvring around vaporetti and other boats
Rob took from this from the Ponte della Libertà, the bridge connecting Venice to the mainland, on his early morning run

Venezia: gondole, canali e calle

A selection of photos from our last few days in Venice. Mainly canals and gondolas.

An old well in a courtyard

i liked this lamp -a hand and forearm holding the lamp

Aqua alta: water seeping up from under the pavement

Two gondoliere hanging around waiting for customers - not trying too hard as the footpath was submerged by aqua alta

Another two having a chat in the middle of the Grand Canal :)
